HARLEY E. ROUDA, SR., CRB, GRI TO BE INDUCTED INTO CRB COUNCIL HALL OF LEADERS
Real estate leader to receive most prestigious award in brokerage management
CHICAGO (July 19, 2007) – The Council of Real Estate Brokerage Managers (CRB) selected Harley Rouda, Sr., CRB, GRI of Columbus, Ohio as this year’s inductee into the Hall of Leaders. The Award will be presented at a special reception and dinner during the REALTORS® Conference & Expo on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino.
The Hall of Leaders Award was established to honor CRB Designees whose significant contributions continue to shape and influence the real estate industry locally and nationally. Past inductees include Ebby Halliday, CRB, CRS, LTG, Ebby Halliday REALTORS®, Joseph F. Hanauer, CIPS, CRB, CRE, Combined Investments, L.P, Dave Liniger, CRB and Gail Liniger, ABR, CRB, RE/MAX International, Inc., Art Godi, CIPS, CRB, CRS, GRI, Art Godi REALTORS®, William A. Watson, Jr. CRB, GRI of Watson Realty Inc., J. Lennox Scott, CRB of John L. Scott Real Estate, and most recently, Richard Mendenhall, CCIM, CIPS, CRB, e-PRO, GRI of RE/MAX Boone Realty. Rouda joins this impressive group as both a leader and innovator.
He entered the business in 1953 and started what would become one of the largest brokerages in Ohio, HER Realtors. Today he serves as Chairman of the Board of Real Living HER and Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors for Real Living, under the leadership of his son, Harley Rouda, Jr., who serves as Chief Executive Officer. A committed and generous volunteer, he serves both his community and the real estate industry locally and nationally. He has held numerous volunteer roles throughout his career, including 1991 President for the National Association of REALTORS®, the largest professional trade association in the world. Additionally, Harley has served as President of the Asian-Pacific/APREF Council Committee, President of the Ohio Association of REALTORS®, President of the Columbus Board of REALTORS®, and was appointed by the Governor of Ohio to serve on a Committee on Funding the Housing Trust Fund. His community accolades include recognition as Citizen of the Year in Upper Arlington, Laureate for the Central Ohio Business Hall of Fame and first recipient of the Distinguished Entrepreneurial Lecturer Award from the OSU Faculty Club.
Rouda has been a GRI instructor and a guest lecturer at many state and local conventions. His firm beliefs in education led him to establish a scholarship at Ohio State University through Real Living HER. “Harley’s success is not by accident or luck. His passion, leadership and innovative vision all served to make Real Living Inc. the industry leader it is today. His generosity of time and talent have enhanced the profession and those he has mentored.
