It's inevitable: Every real estate brokerage manager is faced with the daunting task of overseeing a special event for his or her organization. A charitable outing, a sales rally or awards gala are standard events for brokerages that initially seem pleasant enough—and have the potential for becoming an all-consuming gorilla.

While most brokerage managers are able (and eager) to delegate the many details of the task, these events are always a reflection on management. Thus, a grasp on the essentials of event planning and a clear view of the "big picture" can ensure a successful, memorable gathering.
